Welcome to Module 1, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Field & Roles. Now that you’ve finished school or accumulated some initial experience in the data science and/or artificial intelligence fields, you’d probably like to find a full-time, long-term position. In this module, we’ll discuss the current DS/AI landscape, some of the common challenges of landing a DS/AI role, and the basic experience and education you will need to be considered for a DS/AI role. We’ll close the module with a discussion about your current DS/AI experience, education, and goals for the future. We’ll use this as a benchmark to reflect on at the end of the course and specialization.

Welcome to Module 4, Other Data Science Positions. We will wrap up this course by reviewing a few more DS/AI roles that are currently in demand. Like the roles mentioned in other modules, there can be some confusion around what exactly the data architect, cloud engineer, and business analyst roles involve. In this module, we will examine the different responsibilities and required skills and experience for each of these roles. We will also determine which DS/AI role and industry best align with our personal goals, skills, and interests.

Data science and artificial intelligence are exciting fields to join, but with the explosion of growth has come a somewhat unexpected outcome: high competitiveness in the job market. This specialization focuses on not only how to pick the right DS/AI job for your skillset, but also how to prepare for and land an interview. We will start with an overview of the current entry challenges in this field as well as the differences between some commonly confused DS/AI roles. Next, we will prepare to apply for jobs by detailing job search strategies, skills to brush up on, and how to design resumes and portfolios for DS/AI job applications. Finally, we will describe the interview process and top tips and tricks for a successful interview. We will also touch on what to do after a great interview, including how to negotiate a salary and how to prepare for the next steps in your career.

By the end of this specialization, students will be able to: Differentiate between top DS/AI roles and how they are described in the job market. Identify which skills to refresh in preparation for DS/AI applications and interviews. Make their portfolio and resume stand out by applying tips specific to the field. Recognize how to market themselves and how career fairs, connecting with recruiters, and networking can help. Discuss a technical interview preparation plan and interview best practices. Recall job offer acceptance or refusal best practices. Create a career development plan.

When will I have access to the lectures and assignments?
Access to lectures and assignments depends on your type of enrollment. If you take a course in audit mode, you will be able to see most course materials for free. To access graded assignments and to earn a Certificate, you will need to purchase the Certificate experience, during or after your audit. If you don't see the audit option:
The course may not offer an audit option. You can try a Free Trial instead, or apply for Financial Aid.
