About the Course

This course is designed to teach you the foundations in order to write simple programs in Python using the most common structures. No previous exposure to programming is needed. By the end of this course, you will understand the benefits of programming in IT roles; understand basic Python syntax; explore different code editors and developer environments; be able to write simple programs using Python; figure out how the building blocks of programming fit together; and combine all of this knowledge to solve a complex programming problem. We'll start off by diving into the basics of writing a computer program. Along the way, you’ll get hands-on experience with programming concepts through interactive exercises and real-world examples. You’ll quickly start to see how computers can perform a multitude of tasks — you just have to write code that tells them what to do....

I am still very confused how people rate this course so highly. I know HTML and CSS but I am not a programmer so I came into this with little to no knowledge. Even in Module 1 it never explains basic concepts such as when do you use the "" vs when you don't? What is a "string"? What is a variable? Why do you use ellipses () during the coding. During the first test we are just supposed to know what all this is without having it explained. Even looking through the discussion board to try to figure out what I did wrong on some of the questions nothing is ever explained and only the answer is given. I'M NOT HERE FOR JUST THE ANSWERS. I'm super disappointed in this class. I had to have a programmer friend help me with the first test for the class and even he was getting answers wrong that were clearly right. Because the basics are not covered I will not continue with the course and will unenroll. If there is little to no foundation then it will be that much more difficult later on especially with no explanations from the "Mentors" in the discussion groups.

I liked the quality of the video production, the explanation about the syntax while creating scripts making it really simple to understand, the animations and the effort they really invested in order to create a content which was really attractive to watch. However, where's the application of Python inside IT Industry? Where is it that I haven't seen it? Now, how's that possible that some exercises were incredibly hard and difficult to resolve and the topics were not explained in previous videos, how come? During this course the import of modules WAS NEVER EXPLAINED AND AN EXERCISE COULD ONLY BE RESOLVED IMPORTING A MODULE. How hard it was to resolve some exercises inside the videos? Sometimes the lady was doing some jokes which does not have any sense. I got really disappointed for the high expectancy of what kind of content will be displayed so I can create scripts to attack malware or analyzing connections possibly.

this course has a great presentation of the materials. well spoken presenter and visual aids to get the material to the learner. thats about as far as it goes. the quizes and tests go into such a depth of knowledge they dont teach you about. i found myself going to the web to find better examples and more in depth information on how to do what they wanted me to do to pass. this has been such a waste of time. what i have learned in this course i could have learned in about 3 hours just going through different python sites from google. im about 15-20 hours in and i feel stupid for waiting this long to move on to something worth while.

I suggest if youre interested in learn python to google python and go down the categories available, youll learn more faster.

It's extremely confusing and hard to follow. It forces you to solve complex and difficult quiz problems. You're trying to learn BASIC python and learn at your own pace but this course makes stuff look simple to do but then they love to dive deeper. No Im not trying to dive deeper just yet. Plus, there's hardly any learning prompts/exercises like what I've seen in cybersecurity course which made it so easy for me to learn but this python course gives you none of that. Just a a rundown what was learned and study guide and thats it. Once you do the modular quiz you're gonna be as confused as I was trying to figure out how to pull a miracle to answer the questions.

Pretty disappointing. Videos aim to be more cute and witty than actually helping deliver the concepts. Not a great course for a true beginner, had to use other resources to really grasp concepts because the videos will provide an example, but then the little mid-video "quiz" will test you on something much more difficult in most cases, and will never provide you feedback or a solution that you can use to make improvements. Not impressed.
