[MUSIC] The unique approach to leadership in this specialization has a name, a funny name with two funny words coming, just like me, from France. It is called Savoir Relier, or to make it easy for you, SR. It is pronounced Savoir Relier. Depending where you come from, you say it differently. Listen. >> Savoir Relier. >> Savoir Relier. >> Savoir Relier. Excuse my bad French pronunciation. >> Savoir Relier model. I can't pronounce it in French. [LAUGH] >> So who do you think pronounces it the best? Now it's your turn to practice and record yourself saying, Savoir Relier. Savoir in French means both knowledge and to know. It is also used in the compound words know how, "Savoir faire" or "Savoir être", know how to be. Relier is a verb that means to connect or to link, to bind, and by extension, to rely on. Savoir Relier is simply the art of connecting things or people, the capacity to establish quality relationships, relationships of trust, and it can be translated as relational intelligence. It is also a method you will practice throughout the course, with the Savoir Relier protocol. The method is supported by theories of relational leadership, presented and developed in the book, Leading with Sense, the Intuitive Power of Savoir Relier. Easy to read, the book will help you all along. But don't worry, this MOOC is also self-sufficient. And you learn from it no matter what. The book is just a plus. And you will go step by step through the Savoir Relier process with three MOOCs and one capstone. In the first MOOC, and over three weeks, you will explore the foundations of your leadership. Giving you a chance to define what leadership is for you, at this stage, and to measure your leadership skills as of now, in the face of inspiring leaders. To do so, you will engage in a first experience of introspection, because to be a leader, you have to know who you are. So you will grow your self awareness. Then you will practice what I call the conversation to capture the essence of your relational skills. Relational skills are your capacity to listen, observe, and accept the other person for who he or she is without judgment. By the end of this first course, you will have improved your self awareness and your capacity to engage in quality relationships. In our second MOOC, which will be over four weeks, we will dive into the Savoir Relier experience further. This will be a real life experience with four steps. Those four steps are what I call the Savoir Relier Protocol, a process you will experience step-by-step. By the end of this second course, you will make conscious decisions and assume the consequences of your decisions for long-term benefits. You will become confident in your capacity to manage complex situations and to work with others towards shared goals. You will also welcome change and facilitate innovation with purpose to create value from your ideas and ambition. In short, you will be able to use your perception and your ideas to design new projects and build new things with the support of other people. In our third MOOC, you will move from personal or individual leadership to leadership in groups and communities or companies. It will last over another four weeks. You will apply the same Savoir Relier method to enhance the performance and quality of relationships in groups by improving work of life environment, thanks to people's motivation and well-being. The same principles you discovered in the first two MOOCs, the Savoir Relier principles, will apply to the larger issues as experienced in a company or in a family, for example. This applies to your life, even if you don't have a leader position in a company. By the end of this third course, you will have applied your leadership skills to the scope of an organization, be it a company, an association, or a family. The capstone will finally before you a unique opportunity to apply what you have learned to a real life case, a leadership challenge that you wish to embrace either on a personal level. Or by addressing the challenge posted by one of our partner organizations. By the end of this capstone, you will have applied your personal leadership skills to strategic challenges. So now, you're able to run projects effectively and face new challenges with self-control, self-confidence. So you will be inspirational to others. Finally, at the end of this leadership specialization, you can trust that your leadership skills will serve your own sense of purpose to keep on growing as an inspirational leader. With this in mind, let us begin using your journal, which we now call the SR journal, your Savoir Relier journal. Open it now, and think about how you position yourself on the scale of one to ten for five key leadership skills, self-awareness, open-mindedness, relational skills, observing, and listening. If you feel you are perfect at a skill, note ten, and if you feel you are lacking that skill, score a one. These assessments will appear from time to time to check your progress as you move forward. Are you ready to embark on the journey to become Savoir Relier leaders? Let's discover the mindset of this journey and how to start with a virtual circle of quality relationships.
