[MUSIC] All right, so you're connected to your lab environment and you're looking at a desktop. If you're not, make sure you watch the previous video which shows you how to get here. But let's hope you're looking at something like this. Now something important to note is that the software and the icons on your desktop are what you need for your course. They might not look exactly like this, they might not look exactly like they do in the course screenshots. But if you signed up for the right course, you clicked on the right link to sign up for the right lab, everything you need to access the system is right there for you. This includes these little launchers down here and some documents which can also help you remap your keys. Yeah, you'll probably have to remap at least some of your keys but it's not all that intense and I'll walk you through the basics right here. All right, so I'm looking at my desktop here. I've got some PDFs, I've got some PCOM session, personal communications launchers. I'm going to double click on that first one and start a session and it's saying ENTER USERID. So I'm going to enter my user ID. This is my user ID, not yours. I mean it might be but it probably isn't. tsoba24 and I'm going to hit return. And you can see the cursor went below it but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. That's what we're going to try to fix right now because you're probably going to run into this issue as well. So we're going to go up to Edit, down to Preferences and then down to Keyboard which brings up our Keyboard Setup screen. We're going to click on Customize down here. And that brings up this map of the virtual keyboard right here and we've got all the keys that could possibly appear on a keyboard, including quite a few that you probably don't have on your keyboard. We've got all the function keys. We got print, scroll lock, pause, insert, page up, page down, a whole bunch of keys in addition to a bunch of the others. Now that control key right here, this bottom right control key is what TSO and 3270 and ZOS uses for entering something. And you can see right here it says enter/ ctrl. That key that I hit before, that's a carriage return. And you see it says new line right there. We don't want new line, we want that enter functionality. So we're going to click on our control key, we're going to note what's written down there enter/control within square brackets. We're going to type that out [enter/ctrl]. And we're going to click anywhere else on the screen. It's going to say you changed some stuff, do you want to save it? We're going to say yes and now we've remapped our key. We're going to go up to File, go down to Save As and give this configuration a new name. We are going to make sure that we have our thing saved differently. We're going to call this new_enter_key and hit save. And then close out of this, yep. We want to use our user defined keyboard. We're going to select that new_enter_key mapping that we just made and hit open then hit OK. It's thinking about it. Now we're going to close out of here and it's going to say again hey you change some stuff, do you want to save this current definition? And of course we did that on purpose. So we're going to click yes. It's going to close out. Now let's relaunch it and make sure our changes stuck. So I'm going to enter in my TSO user ID again and hit return. Hey, look at that. Now you might not actually have to do any remapping. You see how there's two icons on the desktop here for PCOM. That second one says remap, that's the same thing as the first one but with the return key remapped to enter. So you might be able to just use that one. But I wanted to show you how to do all that just in case you want to change some other keys around. Also if you go up to Actions and then Display Popup Keypad, this is where you can find the action keys like PA1 break and attention which you may need to use from time to time. One other thing I want you to be aware of is when you go to enter in your password, make sure you don't overtype the password field here. It expects eight characters and if you accidentally type in nine characters and you wind up in the new password field over here on the right, it will think that you're trying to make a new password. And then when you hit return or control or enter or whatever, it'll wind up on this next screen where it's saying okay, you gave me a new password, we'll reenter that password to confirm. And you probably didn't mean to do that and you'll probably get stuck because you're going to keep hitting enter and then you might get locked out. So make sure you don't overtype the password field and if you do wind up on that screen, just log out and come back in. Let me also say that at least for right now, you will need a laptop or a desktop PC or something with a keyboard and a desktop operating system to access these systems and do the labs. It might work for a while with a mobile device but we can't guarantee that everything will necessarily work on all the steps the way that we anticipate them. Depending on your course and your experience level, you may be good to go right now but you may run into a situation where you need to reset or resume your account. If you try to log into your account and you get a message saying revoked and it only stays on the screen for a little while you really need to look out for it. But if your ID is revoked and you can't get in, don't worry we've got this one under control. So one, make sure you're using the right ID. Again it's that ID that's in your course lab kit and the password is probably also the one in your course lab kit. Two, make sure you're still supposed to have access. If you let that timer run out, well then there you go. The good news is you can still click on the lab access button from the course again and get new access. The bad news is any work you did before will probably be gone. So as I said in the first video, plan ahead and if you need an extension ask for that extension before you need it. The link is in that course lab kit again ,before you need it. If your access is revoked and you think it's possible that you entered a wrong password a couple times, it's no problem. There's a link in the pdf on your desktop called IDSS. Follow the link in there and it will send you to a page where you can reset your password and resume your ID. Now for security purposes, that link only works on that virtual system. You can't use it on your own computer. So click on it from the pdf and then enter the super secret code at the bottom of your personal course lab kit that will resume your account. Once it's resumed, you can attempt to log back into the system with the same password that's in, you got it, your course lab kit. And if you tried all that and you still can't get in and you're pretty sure you should be able to, feel free to contact support and somebody will take a look at it and try to solve your problem. That's a lot of information. Hopefully you know what to do, what not to do and what to look out for. We want to make sure you have a real good time learning and exploring and if you do get stuck, don't worry. Feel free to reach out to support and we'll try to help you out. [MUSIC]
